What Happens at Absolute Zero?

by | Jan 18, 2025 | Flash Facts

Did you know there’s a temperature so cold that even atoms can’t move? It’s called absolute zero, and it’s -273.15 degrees Celsius, or for my Fahrenheit folks, a chilly -459.6At this temperature, particles lose all their energy and basically just freeze in place—no vibrations, no movement, nada. Absolute zero is the coldest anything can possibly get, and no, not even your ex’s heart competes.

Scientists have gotten close to absolute zero in labs, but they can’t actually reach it. It’s like trying to touch a star—you can get really near, but you’ll never make it. I hope you learned something you didn’t know about.
