I might go on and say it was the day I held my son for the first time, the day I was married, or the day I got my first major degree, but while these moments are undeniably monumental in my life, I’d rather remember the spontaneous joy I had when one day, my friends and I decided to ditch college and go to another city just to try some sandwiches we heard were great in one of the restaurants we heard about in that city.
I am not sure if these were the best sandwiches I had ever had in my life, but it definitely felt like it at the time. The impromptu decision to go, and we were not prepared for the trip and we barely had money for the bus ride and a sandwich each, all added to the magic of that day. And while we managed to come back that same day, I remember not having enough money to go home because we spent the last money we had for the bus ride back, so I walked for a couple of hours to get back home that day. At the end of the road, my feet hurt, sure, but a big smile never left my face on the entire way and dare I say for a few more days afterwards, and even now when I’m writing this, I still have that same smile on my face even after 25 years of that magical day.
Maybe, that was not a day of a big achievement or a lifechanging revelation. No eurekas, nothing actually changed in my life after that little adventure. But until this very day, I couldn’t help but smile whenever I remember that day even though I lost touch with all those friends I went on that trip with. So, my dear friends, wherever you are, thank you for that great day I will never forget, and I hope you remember it as fondly as I do.

Honestly, I’d relive the day I lost my voice singing at a karaoke bar because it ended with the best slice of pizza ever! Life is full of quirky surprises.

I’d choose the day my pet parrot stole the show at a family dinner—it was chaotic, colorful, and unforgettable. Pure joy!

Reliving the day I got drenched in a surprise rainstorm that turned into a spontaneous dance party. Sometimes, you just have to dance in the rain!

I’d go back to the day I found a secret beach and ended up making lifelong friends over an impromptu BBQ. The unexpected moments make life the best.
